* Overall elegant statement, style and originality.
* Appropriateness of the outfit for the season and the temperature on the day. For ladies, the skirt/dress is around the knee or midi length and given current trends gloves and stockings are not essential.
* Accessories that compliment the overall outfit. Awareness of current racing trends.
* Hat/Headwear is essential. No felt for Spring racing.
* Attention to grooming and deportment
* Clean, well fitting suit or trousers/jacket. Jacket is essential
* Hat or head wear is essential.
* Overall appearance to be focused on “Race Day” fashion rather than a business look and be appropriate for the season and the temperature on the day.
* Accessories appropriate for the races, i.e a flower, lapel handkerchief, race book etc.
* Attention to grooming
The judges will be looking for those who make an outfit work with the temperature on the day. It is advisable to keep an eye on the weather forecast so you can be prepared.
Be aware of the suitably of your outfit and headwear. A good idea is to try everything on an ask for the opinion of others.
A prominence of exposed skin is not considered ‘classic race wear’ i.e mini skirts, dresses with large exposed cut outs etc. the judges however are aware of current trends such as off the shoulder.
Good luck and remember your best accessory is your smile
